M.A.P. (Prices Display)

M.A.P - Minimum Advertised Price

Sometimes, we do not show a price for a given item.
You have to either call for a price or add the item to the shopping cart.
We are not playing games. We are just following the Manufacturer's requirements to be able to sell their product.

MAP non-compliance can result in punitive actions from the manufacturer, like not being able to sell the product at all.

Manufacturers mean business and may hire specialized firms (like NetEnforcer) who monitor the web and will report MAP offenders to them.
Some manufacturers will even impose a Shopping Cart selling price, or else...

Sites which do not enforce MAPs are often not authorized and may be selling grey market products (possibly with no US warranty).

Why are Manufacturers enforcing M.A.P.s ??

Manufacturers are mainly trying to "protect" traditional distribution channels, claiming that they do provide support and service.
Manufacturers want to make sure that dealers with higher overhead costs can make money at selling their products and stay in business.
But after all, who has'nt visited a store to "kick the tires" and then rushed online to save money ??

Do M.A.P.s benefit the Consumer ??

MAPs can be easily justified for a complex and technical product.
They are harder to justify when you buy an MP3 player or a camera lens.

In most instances, it results in higher prices for the consumer with no or little added benefits.

Are M.A.P.s legal ??

Many people believe MAPS are anti-competitive and a restriction of trade,
but (at this time) MAPS are unfortunately legal .

There is still hope however: eBay and Costco are currently fighting MAPs in court
.
GO eBay, GO Costco!!!

In the meantime, if you do not like a MAP price
